Italian jewelry mania: exports increase by +12% in 2017

In 2017 first semester the Italian jewelry sector got stronger, as well as many other industries in Italy. According to the annual report published by Intesa San Paolo and Club degli Orafi, exports grew by 12% (about 3.4 billion Euros). Compared with the previous year, the percent of the growth of the volume of business is +1,6%. Among the most important foreign buyers, the largest increase was registered in France (+68.8), USA (+26,3%), Hong Kong (+14,2%) and Russia (+11,9%).

This is a signal which is symptomatic of the reprise of one of the strategic sectors of the Italian economy, thanks to the interest of foreign investors. Every year an increasing number of business and visitors take part in Vicenzaoro, the leading International Gold and Jewellery Show, to get in touch the latest trends and innovations in the jewelry industry.

The September edition was dedicated to the theme “Green Jewellery”, i.e. the social responsibilities and the policy of sourcing for an eco-friendly business. Almost 70 events were held during the 5-day convention, twice as many in 2016’s edition, among which the intervention of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economic Development Ivan Scalfarotto. The last edition broke all the records with over 1300 brands from 35 countries, over 500 hosted buyers, 800 Golden Buyers, journalists, opinion leaders and trendsetters.

Vicenzaoro, organized by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), is a point reference for the industry in Italy and abroad: the next venues include Vicenza (January 19-24) and three international events in Hong Kong (March 1-5), Las Vegas (June 1-4) and Dubai (November 14-17).
